It has been announced that the City of Saskatoon is to host the Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR) starting in 2017. This follows the failure of the CFR to secure an agreement to continue holding the rodeo championship in Edmonton.
The move comes despite the fact that 63 per cent of Canadians and virtually all animal welfare organizations oppose rodeos. More info here.
Please let the City of Saskatoon know that it is supporting animal cruelty by deciding to host this event.

Dear Mayor, please reconsider hosting the Canadian Finals Rodeo. In this day and age these competitions are very abusive and cruel to the animals and quite unnecessary. Do the right thing and put a stop to it now.

The cowboys always look like they are trying to split the atom when they are really just bullying, terrifying, choking, smashing bodies and choking little helpless calves to the ground. They could probably train these animals to play dead the way you teach a dog to, but they have to make it look like a ‘skill’ that they are in complete torturous control of – when everybody should know that when a bully tortures anyone, they are out of their mind and/or out of control. Dear City of Saskatoon,
I am deeply disappointed that you have decided to host the Rodeo Championships. For the sake of money and tourism you have given in to allow the abuse and cruelty of animals.
Animals are not “entertainment” and this form is beyond disgusting. Normal docile animals are physically provoked and have NO CHOICE but to participate in events where they are: choked, “flanked” causing burns, broken ribs, torn ligaments and sometimes DEATH!
Would you do this to a friend or child? No! So why is it acceptable to do this to an animal. You should be ashamed.
Please say no to this torture.

Dear Mayor, please reconsider having Saskatoon host the Canadian Rodeo Finals. Inflicting fear and pain on animals for human entertainment is just plain awful. We are better than that.
Please do not support the cruel and painful treatment of sentient cattle and pigs for sick individuals to enjoy watching. This behaviour supports, encourages & incites similar violence and sociopathic behaviour in others.
Mr. Mayor: This practice is very outdated and is becoming less and less appealing to people who do not want to see animals tortured and treated inhumanely. I trust that you will make the right decision and not bring the rodeo to Saskatoon. There are many other humane ways to get people together in your city. Please make the right decision sir and ban the rodeo from your city.
