Skye’s story
When Theo noticed Skye wasn’t herself, he rushed her to the vet. The news was devastating. She had pyometra, a severe uterine infection that, without emergency surgery, would be fatal.
Theo told the VHS, “This surgery was very unexpected and out of my realm of financial possibility.”
Theo rescued Skye in Korea and brought her to Canada to give her a better life. He never imagined he’d be faced with the possibility of losing her so suddenly.
The Vancouver Humane Society said yes to helping with her care so this sweet girl could receive emergency surgery right away.
The procedure was complicated. Skye had to undergo an emergency ovariohysterectomy and received two plasma transfusions while in life threatening condition. She has made encouraging progress, but she still needs to stay hospitalized for several more days as she battles complications from her infection.
Theo told us, “Skye has had her surgery. It has exhausted every resource I could possibly find. She still needs to be hospitalized for 3 more days. She is still very much in life threatening condition. Without your help I will not be able to keep her in intensive care where she needs to be.”
