Caramelo’s story

When Paola noticed her dear puppy Caramelo refusing to play, eat and drink, and so weak he could barely move she knew something was terribly wrong.
Just days before, Caramelo was full of energy, eager to explore and bound around the yard.
Paola rushed him to the vet, where staff said he may be suffering from parvovirus, a fast moving and often deadly virus in dogs. This illness requires immediate and intensive treatment to survive.
At only a few months old, Caramelo is so loved by Paola, her husband, and their two daughters. The family takes turns walking Caramelo and arranging his favourite blankets just-so. Someone is always ready to give him belly rubs when he flops expectantly onto his back.
Paola’s family has faced an incredibly difficult year. Her husband is very ill and unable to work. Paola is currently receiving income assistance while caring for their daughters, one still in middle school and the other searching for work after losing her job. Their funds are stretched to cover only the basics, and there is nothing left for an emergency like this.
Caramelo has already been examined by a veterinarian, and the VHS team is in communication with Paola and the clinic to support his recovery.
Caramelo’s prognosis can be good with immediate treatment, but time is critical.
Can you donate today to help Caramelo receive the urgent veterinary care he needs?
